Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)
Symptoms, Causes, and Homeopathy

Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) is a complex health issue that involves a number of different systems in your body leading to an array of symptoms. MCAS may develop due to a variety of triggers, including mould, chemicals, toxins, heavy metals, allergens, medications, infections, viruses, food, and alcohol. If you have MCAS, some or all of these triggers can cause your mast cells to release inflammatory mediators, including histamine resulting in unwanted symptoms
Do you suffer from the below symptoms?

What is a Mast Cell?
Mast cells are a part of your immune system, they are white blood cells found throughout the bodies tissue and blood. 'The body’s alarm system', They look out for harmful invaders; once found they send out signals to open your blood vessels, fill your tissues with fluid. They are located everywhere in the body, especially in connective tissues, the GI tract, skin, and lungs.
Your mast cells store inflammatory mediators, including histamine inside granules. When you have an allergic reaction, it will activate your mast cells triggering an allergic response that will lead to the release of histamine and other chemicals. They’re made in your bone marrow, then move through your bloodstream into your tissues. The mature mast cells live in tissues throughout your body to help protect us. They can help fight infections and regulate your organs. One of there common known uses is in seasonal allergies or allergic asthma. Mast cell activation can sometimes cause anaphylaxis, a serious allergic reaction.
When your mast cells are 'over'active or 'over' stimulated, we start to react to harmless things in your environment; foods, chemicals, perfume's, EMF and much more.

MCAS & Hormonal Health
Is Estrogen Dominance fuelling the fire??
Excess estrogen (or estogen dominace) may not only be your ovaries producing too much, but it is likely to be our body is not be efficiently breaking down and excreting our excess estrogen, which in turn causes it to build up in our system... But how does this affect my MAST Cells?
Lets explain a little more detail... All cells have many different types of receptors that the chemical messengers, and hormones, like estrogen, will recognise and attach to. Histamine and estrogen attach to the same receptors (H1). Because of this, estrogen will cause a release of histamine from our mast cells present . The more estrogen you have, the more histamine that will be released into the bloodstream. More histamine results in more estrogen, which is where people will get stuck in a vicious cycle; one problem is feeding into the other.

-
Estrogen stimulates mast cells to release histamine and downregulates the DAO enzyme that clears histamine. At the same time, histamine stimulates the ovaries to make more estrogen. The net result can be a vicious cycle of estrogen → histamine → estrogen → histamine.
-
Progesterone stabilizes mast cells, upregulates DAO, and can therefore reduce histamine.
